Rugby High School * is one of the UK's 164 grammar schools. It caters for 11 to 18 year olds, and also has Specialist Science College status.
The school had identified two main issues with the management of incoming calls. One was that call volumes tend to peak at certain times of the day, with more calls between 9am and 10am as parents call to report absences. The other was that teaching staff are constantly moving around the premises, and therefore harder to track down.
A new system was required which could address these needs; one which had the ability to manage multiple incoming calls simultaneously, and which could provide sophisticated message handling capability.
Having taken time to understand the school's needs in depth, Nortel delivered a complete communications system which included a Nortel Business Communications Manager 400 , and a Nortel CallPilot 32-port messaging system. This solution was supported by a Nortel Business Series Terminal T7316E for the school's reception, Nortel Business Series Terminal T7208s for admin and management staff and Nortel Business Series Terminal T7000s throughout the school. This provided the ability to handle up to 32 simultaneous incoming calls, and also allowed for the simultaneous access of multiple voicemail boxes during breaks.
